You keep hearing the term cannabis in New Jersey. You know there’s a dispensary near you. Maybe you’ve smelt it on the way to work. You try to Google a dispensary near you. And perhaps the experience wasn’t quite right and just too intimidating. You hear terms thrown at you—sativa, indica, hybrid, terpenes, concentrates, vapes—but nobody is offering a noob friendly way to puff in.
In this guide, Puffin will introduce an affordable, casual cannabis friendly and judgement free guide to make your first time experience easy and enjoyable. We hope that when you arrive at Puffin, your customer experience won’t be like the rest—‘cause we’ll be the best.
What You Need:
1 Preroll
1 Lighter
Your preferred space
- Start with a preroll.
We’re breaking the cardinal sin and recommending a nice preroll. Prerolls are perfect introductions to cannabis. You don’t have to learn how to roll a joint right off the bat. You don’t need a pipe or any other accessory, other than a lighter and a dube tube to hold your preroll. It’s affordability will allow you to save money on your first try without accidentally making any mistakes during your setup. When you start with a preroll, use a lighter to light the edge of your preroll. Inhale a small puff, breathe, and exhale. (Don’t unwrap your preroll!)When you become a casual consumer, you’ll flap your wings in no time and puff out to rolling your own joints with your preferred flower, or having a preferred vape cartridge. The possibilities are endless! - Don’t overthink it. If you’re having trouble deciding on a strain, then not to worry. In fact, nobody picks the “right” strain for their first time. Your preferences will just click. Just focus on what you’re trying to achieve (e.g., reduce anxiety, achieve more sleep, chill & relax). If you’re a creative person looking to shine your skills or watch a movie, then sativa might be right for you. If you’re someone who has lower back ache while looking to have a good appetite, then Indica might be for you.Indica: Perfect for night time use; mind relaxing effects. Best for chilling & relaxing.
Sativa: Great for daytime use, letting your creative flow. Enhances creativity and keeps depression at bay!
Hybrid: Combination of sativa and indica strains. Depending on the strain, this can vary depending on the predominant effects of the hybrid. - Stay hydrated. Drink water! For most first-time usages, dry-mouth can occur. It’s completely normal for this to happen and not a big deal. Just simply have a glass of water on the side and don’t be afraid to take sips. Plus, drinking water is healthy for you.Why does dry mouth (cottonmouth/ xerostomia) occur? The smoke in cannabis doesn’t cause dry mouth. Not to get into the biology of it… but it occurs when THC binds to endocannabinoid receptors on the salivary glands. In other words, your mouth and throat may feel dry during any THC congestion (whether you’re smoking or having an edible).
- Take a few puffs and wait. There is no pressure to smoke your entire stash in one sitting, even if it’s your first preroll. You should not feel pressured to go above and beyond the extra mile. Cannabis is about respecting your time. Your time should be enjoyable. Just two or three puffs—no long pulls—and just wait. Let the calmness, and the cool effects slowly ease in. There is no need to keep going if this is your first time. Just relax and follow your nose.
- Take Flight! You can now chill and take flight. All those things you wanted to do—or just do plain nothing—can best be enjoyed with your first time cannabis use. Congratulations! We hope you enjoy this guide. If this guide helped you then DM us on Instagram @puffinstorenj. We’re always up for hearing first-time cannabis stories, even from the pros!
Note: Be kind & be cool! Smoke responsibly at a safe space you feel comfortable. Be considerate to neighbors and/or roommates, relatives if they live with you. If odor is a concern, feel free to smoke outside within your private residence. This information is not meant to be a be-all/end-all cannafact nor can guarantee best results. This guide is intended for users that are 21+ years of age.
